Choice of paper

My printing service offer three grades of paper, "premium",  "fine art", and "Metallic".

Premium Paper

Premium Paper refer to the Premium-grade exhibition quality photo paper offered by Epson for their printers.  They are archival and print exceptionally well.  The base gives this luster photo paper has the feel of a durable lab-quality photograph.

  • Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper

  • Epson Ultra Premium Luster Photo Paper

  • Epson Ultra Premium Enhanced Matte Paper

Museum Grade Fine Art Paper

Museum Grade Fine Art Paper is 100% cotton rag and alpha cellulose papers in much heavier weights and with different characteristics.  We have papers from Hahnemuhle, Canson, Crane Museo, Fredrx and Epson.  We stock most of these papers in 36" and 44" widths.  We hate to waste paper so we price smaller prints to encourage the use of the full width of paper.

  • Hahnemuhle Photo Rag

  • Epson Signature Worthy Exhibition Fiber

  • Epson Signature Worthy Canvas Matte or Satin

Metallic Paper

Metallic Paper represents a breakthrough for inkjet photo papers. This paper enables you to create stunning prints that previously could be output only in a darkroom. The metallic resin-coated base and a pearl-like luster finish capable of producing images with high sharpness, excellent dynamic range, and a wide color gamut. results in prints that are sharp, vibrant, and exceptionally rich-looking.

This paper provides the perfect way to make portraits, commercial display prints, and competition prints that stand out from the others. The instant-dry, scratch-resistant surface of this Photo Metallic Paper makes it practical for everyday use in busy studios.

  • Epson Metallic Photo Paper Luster

  • Kodak Professional Metallic Inkjet paper

For Black and White printing

Large format Black and White Printing is done on my Epson 9900 with Piezography ink.

The benefits of using seven shades of black ink over Epson's three shades of black ink is literally tens of thousands of more gray levels, significantly smoother tonal response, better highlight and shadow detail, and higher resolution. For most of our customers however, the biggest benefits are that a Piezography print has much more "breath", "depth" and "spatial quality".

The Piezography process uses a different printer driver and uses the Piezography K7 "media profile" which allows the printer to print with up to 40% more ink than Epson ABW. This is the breath that everyone describes. Where Epson ABW highlights are made with just a few dots of darker ink, Piezography highlights are made with a significant amount of very light ink.

Piezography uses two lighter shades of ink and two darker shades of ink than Epson's ABW process. The "LK and LLK" (shades 4 & 5) do not have the color cast of Epson's inks. Epson has to compromise between printing both color and monochromatic images with one printer. Piezography is a no-compromise, highest-standard solution. So, if your black & white work really matters - maybe my dedicated Epson 9800 black & white printer is at your service.
